During a parliamentary session on Thursday, Morocco is considering broadcasting news in English on the country’s public channels, Minister of Culture, Youth and Communications Mohamed Mehdi Benzaid announced. He also said that Al-Aoula, a public channel, is currently working on a new project to pave the way for broadcasting information in English. Spanish – a language spoken by more than 500 million people worldwide – will not be forgotten. Moroccan public channels will also focus on this language. According to the minister, this is the “linguistic policy” adopted by these channels. Launched almost 34 years ago, the dissemination of information in Spanish contributed to increasing Morocco’s popularity among Spanish speakers and attracting Iberian tourists, he recalled. As for broadcasting in English, the Kingdom expects the same results.
