Country music star Phil Vassar lives to tell his story after the singer said he “died twice.”

Vassar, 62, opened up about his health battles, revealing that he suffered a heart attack and stroke last year.

The “Last Day of My Life” singer explained the moment he was on Christmas tour with Dina Carter before he saw his life flash before his eyes.

“I don’t remember any of it, but I know I wasn’t feeling well. I had a hereditary heart condition,” Vassar shared.

“I wasn’t drinking or partying or anything like that. I was working out every day… I was constantly feeling bad, so I just kept really focusing on my health and trying not to eat anything fried or anything like that. I never did that. It affected me, you know, genetics,” he added.

The multi-platinum singer-songwriter said his medical emergency happened at his home, and someone was with him to call 911. Vassar added that first responders tased him “11 times” and that he “broke some ribs.”

“They did a great job getting me back,” Vassar commented.

Three days later, the country star suffered a stroke and remains in the hospital.

“They cooled me down, and they said, ‘Why is it so cold? Because you’re on ice,’” he recalls. “So, it was weird, but I just dropped dead.”

Vassar said he feels “fantastic” after his near-death experiences and appreciates “being alive.”
