Mahlab Media to publish Abacus magazine, Connexus |

Abacus, the industry body representing the Australian mutuals sector, has appointed custom publisher Mahlab Media to relaunch its quarterly magazine Connexus.
Circulating to decision-makers in credit unions, building societies and friendly societies all around Australia, the magazine will be launched in January 2009 with a revitalised approach and a new look and format.
Connexus has been the flagship publication for the Australian mutuals sector for more than 20 years. It is the key industry publication informing credit unions, building societies and friendly societies about topical issues, sector news, legislation and trends.
The mutuals sector has a history of excellent performance in challenging economic times. Credit unions and building societies reported a strong profit result in 2007/08 as opposed to the 22.5 per cent decrease in profit after tax by the major banks.
The 164 credit unions, building societies and friendly societies that make up Abacus membership have $70 billion in assets and provide services to one in five Australians.
