She also noted that at the end of the relationship she finally realized that the dysfunction wasn’t her fault.
I was in a situation where, in the end, I had the unique experience of discovering that whatever I thought was happening was actually happening. So I had the kind of starting point for feeling and recovering that not many people get.

A closer look at Alice … and Anna: in the film she plays a woman who is being abused; In real life Anna was hurt too and it was hard to recover
“So even with this tangible starting point for me, getting out of that relationship knowing I’m not crazy, it’s just unbelievable the way recovery has been so difficult.”
Kendrick did not reveal her boyfriend’s name to the publication.
In the past, she has dated Edgar Wright (2009 until 2010), Jake Gyllenhaal (in 2011), Ben Richardson (from 2014 until 2020) and Bill Hader (from 2020 until 2022).
When I got the script for Anna, Darling — about a woman in an abusive relationship — was in touch.
“I was coming out of personal experience with emotional abuse and psychological abuse,” she said.
And she dated it: The star, left, with director Edgar Wright, right, in 2010; She didn’t mention the name of the guy who had a hard time with her but said it was recently
‘I think my representative sent [the script] For me, because he knew what I was dealing with and sent it with me. Because he was like, “That kind of talks about whatever you’ve been talking to me about.”
Anna added, “I felt really special in that, frankly, I watched a lot of movies about abusive or toxic relationships, and it didn’t really feel like it was happening to me.
“It kind of helped me to normalize and reduce what was happening to me, because I thought, ‘Well, if I was in an abusive relationship, it would look like that. “
And this is the first time that much of a movie character — including the films Up In The Air (2009), Pitch Perfect (2012) and Trolls (2016) — has played.

Alice, Darling’s logical statement: “A young woman caught in an abusive relationship becomes an unintended participant in an intervention made by her best friend.”
“Usually, I just read a good script and like the people involved, and I’m making the movie,” she said.
It was a really surprising timing when we found this scenario at that moment in my life. And in fact, I remember my first Zoom meeting with director Marie Nighy, who revealed to her what I was going through.

I even told her, “This all happened recently. In fact, it happened so recently that if the movie was shot in a month, I probably wouldn’t.”
‘But it was several months away. So I wasn’t in danger of re-traumatizing myself. But yes, it is definitely a unique experience.
