The England international announced his extension with the English club this Wednesday.
England second-row Maro Itoje, a figure in world rugby, has extended his contract with Saracens, the London club announced on Wednesday, without specifying the length of his new commitment. “I am at home at Saracens and very happy to be there”The 29-year-old said in a statement. “I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved over the last ten years and this is the perfect place to continue moving forward”.
Itoje has played 175 matches in the black jersey since 2013. “Cherrys”, with whom he won the European Cup three times (2016, 2017 and 2019) and the English Championship five times. Unlike his teammate Owen Farrell, who will join Racing 92 next season, he remains in France. The athletic second row has been nominated three times for the World Player of the Year title, allowing him to continue playing for the XV de la Rose with 76 caps.
Saracens, currently fourth in the English Championship, travel to Bordeaux-Begless on April 6 in the Round of 16 of the Champions Cup. England, who finished third at the last World Cup, open the Six Nations against Italy in Rome on Saturday.
