The latest incarnation of the franchise picks up many years later as George Banks (Martin) celebrates the latest engagement to his 52-year-old daughter, Annie (Heidi Gardner). As much as he loves his princess, he admits he can’t afford another Nancy Myers-level celebration. In fact, his wife Nina (Chloe Fineman) is currently driving for Lyft to pay off her latest wedding — her seventh!
Annie is sure to get her way, so this evening will need a planner, and no one else but Frank (short) will. As a stern Frank suggests all the ways the bride can get fresh, her annoying brother Matty (Culkin) walks through the front door.
If you’ve been keeping your eyes on this door, there’s another surprise yet to be revealed. It was the second appearance before Selena Gomezwho co-starred alongside Martin and Short in the hit Hulu comedy series Only murders in the building.
In the sketch, she’s playing an elevated version of herself who will perform at Annie’s latest wedding. George is upset when he learns that it will cost $1.8 million to secure a new wedding singer leaving the group the perfect opportunity to sing their rendition of “Party Pooper”.
