Fletcher Cox, Zach Cunningham, Dallas Goedert out again – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Fletcher Cox, Zach Cunningham, Dallas Goedert out again – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Several key players missed practice Thursday as the Eagles continued to prepare for the 49ers on Sunday at the Linc.

DT Fletcher Cox (groin), LB Zach Cunningham (hamstring), TE Dallas Goedert (forearm), TE Grant Calcaterra (ankle) and S Justin Evans (knee) all did not practice Thursday.

All five of those players were also listed as non-participants on Wednesday when the Eagles released their post-walkthrough injury report.

Cox, 32, rarely misses games. But he injured his groin in the first half against the Bills and when he tried to come back in the third quarter, he couldn’t make it. Cox was a spectator Thursday but did some work on the sideline. If anyone on the team is able to play during a week they don’t practice, Cox is a strong candidate.

Meanwhile, it appears Cunningham will be sidelined this week due to the hamstring injury he suffered against the Bills. Without him, the Eagles will have to rely on Nicolas Moreau, Christian Ellis and Ben Van Someren at fullback. The Eagles welcomed former All-Pro Shaquille Leonard for a visit earlier this week, but he has not signed with a team yet.

There was some hope that Goedert could return for this game but he did not practice Thursday as he continues to recover from a broken forearm and subsequent surgery. Goedert was catching some passes on a sideline on Thursday but was without a helmet.

When Goedert was injured before the bye week, the Eagles did not place him on IR, signaling hope that he would be able to return within four weeks. If Goedert is unable to play against the 49ers, this will be the third game he has missed.

All seven players who started the week listed as limited were on the field again Thursday: OT Lane Johnson (groin), DT Jordan Davis (hamstring), WR AJ Brown (groin), WR DeVonta Smith (knee). ), RB DeAndre Swift (ankle), DT Milton Williams (concussion).

It would mean a lot to the Eagles if Johnson was actually able to play in this game. While Jack Driscoll did a good job last week in Johnson’s place, Nick Bosa will be coming to town on Sunday.
