The College Football Playoff picture is beginning to take shape and each weekend delivers decisive results as teams compete for one of four spots on the field.
No. 3 Michigan scored a decisive win in the early game, suffocating No. 10 Penn State in a vital Big Ten matchup. No. 8 Alabama had the most emphatic result of the day, beating Kentucky in a defeat to an SEC West team in Lexington. Later, No. 5 Washington held on for a 35-28 win over Utah to keep the Pac-12 title and CFP hopes alive.
On top of that, it was an easy day for the rest of the CFP’s undefeated contenders, as No. 1 Ohio State rolled past Michigan State 38-3 and No. 2 Georgia crushed No. 9 Ole Miss 52-17.

Oregon State is looking more and more like a national championship caliber team. The Ducks started the season 5-0 before falling to Washington in Seattle. If the Ducks want a rematch with Washington in the Pac-12 title game, they have to keep winning. That quest continues with a visit from the reeling USC Trojans. USC has lost three of its last four games after starting the season 6-0. Trojans coach Lincoln Riley has finally fired Alex Grinch, his longtime defensive coordinator. Will it make a difference when the Trojans travel to Eugene to face Bo Nix and Oregon’s high-flying offense?
