How to follow anomalies on the scanner in Starfield

How to follow anomalies on the scanner in Starfield

Scanner mutilation missions are a specific type of mission that grants you a unique power at the end of them. Into the Unknown will probably be your first mission to disfigure the scanner, but there are more powers to unlock and more adventures to take on! This specific mission is one of the most confusing in the Into the Unknown series, and I’ll show you how to do it below!

Starfield: How to follow abnormalities on a scanner

Upon landing in Procyon III, anomalies will appear on your scanner as a small defect in the scanner’s outer ring. Turn your scanner until you see one of these distortions, then move in that direction. Distortions will increase in frequency and intensity as you get closer to the target.

You will eventually stumble upon a structure called the Temple of Eta (shown above), which is your destination for this part of the Into the Unknown quest.

When you approach the Temple of Eta, you will be given your next objective, which is to “Investigate the source of the anomaly”.

How to solve the riddle of the Temple of Eta

From here, you’ll make your way inside the Eta Temple and run into an ancient building with a similar look to the artifacts you put together. Activating this structure will require you to solve a puzzle that involves floating on balls of light.

These prisms of light will move to random locations in the temple room. You will need to fly towards the light to start activating the structure. Once enough light balls have been flown, the ancient structure will turn into a portal.

Entering this portal will grant you another view and send you back outside, where you will be tasked with returning to the inn.

After you return to the lodge, you will be granted the power of an anti-gravity field, which sends enemies hurtling through the sky in a low-gravity field. This is a very useful power, and it can render even the most dangerous of enemies useless!

At the end, you will be given additional missions to deform the scanner, each of which will give you a new power to play with!
