vice president Kamala Harris rallied Democrats At their winter meeting on Saturday, they said the big job of the midterms is to remind voters that the Biden-Harris administration has largely fulfilled its campaign promises.

“Our job is to show people that they got, in many ways, what they asked for,” Harris told a Democratic National Committee (DNC) meeting.

Fresh from her trip from Europe to address Russia and Ukraine The war, Harris said, is that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine threatens democracies outside Ukraine.

Democrats seek to “sell” achievements before difficult times

“The ocean that separates us will not leave us untouched by this aggression,” Harris said.

When she met allies in Europe, she said, she said that their greatest strength they share is unity and standing together in defense of democracy.

She affirmed the United States’ commitment to Ukraine as it repels the brutal Russian invasion.

“The United States stands firmly with the Ukrainian people in defense of NATO,” Harris said.

Harris’ speech to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in Washington, D.C. comes as sincere preparation for what is expected to be a difficult midterm elections season. It’s the first time hundreds of DNC members have gathered for an in-person event since 2019 because Corona Virus pandemic.

Biden addressed the nearly 415 DNC members Thursday night telling them to be proud of what Democrats have accomplished since his presidency and to do a better job of selling the record to the American public.

“We have a record — a record we’re proud of; an agenda that addresses the biggest concerns here in America, in people’s lives, and the message that resonates,” Biden told the crowd at the Washington Hilton on Thursday. “Now what we have to do is sell it with confidence, clarity, conviction and repeat.”

While key parts of the Biden-Harris agenda have failed in Congress—namely rebuilding an agenda for better social spending and voting rights reforms—Harris said Democrats still have a lot to do. She has promoted the US bailout, job gains, schools and businesses reopening from the pandemic and a bipartisan Infrastructure Act that she said would create more well-paid union jobs.

Harris praised Democrats who voted in record numbers during the coronavirus pandemic and said now is the time to remind them of these accomplishments.

“They’ve been asking them a lot,” Harris said, “so let’s go out like we do and remind them…because we know they’re going to show up again.”

However, Republicans seek to blame Biden and Harris for inflation and rising gas prices that have hurt American families.

“Kamala Harris is back at record gas prices, historical inflation, unbridled crime, open borders and a country moving in the wrong direction,” Republican National Committee spokeswoman Emma Vaughn said in a statement. “Biden and Harris have lost the trust of the American people – their agenda is to destroy conservatives, pit Americans against each other, and weaken our standing on the world stage.”

Harris just returned to Washington early Saturday morning after traveling to Poland and Romania to show unity among NATO allies, show support for Ukraine and condemn Russia’s unwarranted war against the Ukrainian people.

“We are clear that any deliberate attack or targeting of civilians is a war crime,” Harris said.

Concluding her European trip, a White House official said Harris “will continue her work with European and Eastern leaders in a series of phone calls early next week. She will discuss her trip and next steps on our collective response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”
