Liv Morgan wins the MITB Women's Match, Lashley wins the US title

Liv Morgan wins the MITB Women’s Match, Lashley wins the US title

On Saturday night in Las Vegas, the careers of two WWE Superstars at Money in the Bank will change.

The WWE Premier Ladder Match takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and features two MITB matches, one for the women’s division and one for the men’s division. The winner of each event will be restricted to a world title shot of their choice any time they wish to get paid.

There are also women’s singles tournaments with Bianca Belair defending the Raw title against a late substitute in Carmella, who stepped in after Rhea Ripley wasn’t medically cleared, and Natalia Ronda Rousey challenging her SmackDown belt.

Follow along as Mike Coppinger summarizes all the action as it happens.

Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match: Liv Morgan def. Lacey Evans, Alexa Bliss, Raquel Rodriguez, Asuka, Schutze, Becky Lynch

Liv Morgan Miss In The Bank.

In a cool and crazy match from Woman in the Bank, it was Morgan who went up the ladder and grabbed the bag for a guaranteed shot at one of two women’s tournaments (currently held by Ronda Rousey and Bianca Belair).

The business began when Morgan and Becky Lynch attempted to double down on Raquel Rodriguez – before it was reversed. Then both women were simultaneously lifted up the ladder.

Schutzi tried to climb the ladder that was set up as a bridge to attack Rodriguez, but fell. With a pile of women now stacked on the stair bridge, Lynch connected with a springboard splash on all of them. Alexa Bliss then knocked out a group with a 450 machine gun before she climbed the ladder for the first time. Rodriguez impeded her ascent before Bliss used Hiricarana to throw Rodriguez into the ladder bridge.

Next, Shutzi absorbed a hip throw from Asuka on the same ladder before starting to climb again with Lacey Evans going up the other side. Becky tried to turn them over, but they caught themselves and fell to their feet. Evans managed to grab the bag, but couldn’t untie it because Rodriguez was there to stop it.

Then, Morgan got into the bag, but decided to go ahead with the attack and flipped the sunset powerbomb on Evans in one of the highlights of the match. This left Rodriguez alone on the ladder, but Schutzi stopped her and threw her into the woe tree on the ladder.

Schutzi then put Bliss on her shoulders and reached out to the Slam electric chair, with Bliss awkwardly bumping into the back ladder first. Schutze kept pushing the pace and the guard from the top rope tried on Lynch, but Lynch got out of the way and Schutze hit the ladder back first.

Asuka got back into the mix and took Lynch a kick in the head. She climbed the ladder but Rodriguez kicked her out of the ring. Rodriguez then erected the ladder as a bridge to the announcer’s table outside and tried to send Asuka up the ladder. Instead, Asuka saved and put Rodriguez into a triangle.

Lynch joined the action and laid Asuka flat on the ladder before calling a modified guard before both bouncing off the ladder at another high spot that sent the Las Vegas crowd into a frenzy.

With three ramps in the middle of the ring and the rest of the field climbing up, Lynch flipped on Schutzi and Rodriguez off one ladder, then knocked Evans and Bliss off the other ladder before climbing herself. Morgan appeared to stop her ascent and set up another ladder beside Lynch. Lynch tried to flip her ladder, but Morgan stopped the fall by pushing the top rope and yanked Lynch out. Then Morgan grabbed the bag and cried tears of joy as the Las Vegas crowd exploded.

What’s Next: Morgan will now choose two WWE Championship titles, even though she belongs to the Raw brand so she can get a final shot at Bianca Belair. Lynch could find themselves on a singles program as Asuka moves forward, even though they’ve struggled a lot over the past few months.

WWE United States Championship: Bobby Lashley won. theory (c)

The reign of the youngest US champion in history is over. Bloodstained Bobby Lashley forced Theory to surrender from Hurt Lock to regain the United States Championship.

Theory tried A-Town Down, but Lashley reversed the striker to a follow-up lap. Theory then swept Lashley’s eyes to escape Powerslam before hitting Lashley with his All-Mighty special spear. The theory went again to A-Town Down before Lashley repels and plunges into Hurt Lock for the win.

The match started in high gear earlier when Theory went to work with a series of elbows, followed by an extended chin lock after Superkick knocked Lashley off the top rope. After about two minutes, Lashley nearly got out of the chin lock before Theory digged the lock deeper for another 90 seconds or so.

Lashley finally escaped and contacted a serious set of clotheslines and belly-to-tummy superplexes. The theory later attempted to tip him on a clothesline but he was caught and the gorilla pressed him. The theory kicked off a roll up, then used a toe grip to smash Lashley’s face first off the thorn of the rope. He ended this sequence with a somersault in a shotgun drop kick.

Lashley then hit his Powerslam, which was the start of the end for Theory’s first championship title.

What’s Next: It came as a slight surprise that Lashley won, given the meteoric thrust Theory has enjoyed since joining the main roster in October. However, the theory still looks solid in defeat. He’d been facing the toughest opponents of his career, so the victory was another indication that the theory is for stardom. WWE likely wanted the belt from Theory so he could move on to bigger things, but a rematch with Lashley could lie ahead, even though a future match with John Cena was worrisome on Raw.

WWE Raw Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) def. Carmela

In another successful defense for the Raw Women’s Championship, Bianca Belair defeated Carmella with KOD. After the match, while Beller was celebrating the victory on the lever, Carmella attacked her and then followed her with a series of punches, injuring the champion and provoking a pay-out attempt. But Liv Morgan’s music never arrived.

What’s Next: This looked like a vice title match for Belair, who must find a new contender for SummerSlam, whether it’s Liv Morgan – using the bag to set up the match – or a match with Becky Lynch or Asuka.
