NEW YORK – Nicholas Lloyd Webber, Grammy-nominated composer and record producer and eldest son of Andrew Lloyd Webber, died Saturday in England after a long battle with stomach cancer and pneumonia. He was 43 years old.
“His whole family is together and we are all completely disenfranchised,” Lloyd Webber, 75, said in an emailed statement. “Thank you for all of your thoughts during this difficult time.”
His father said Nicholas died in a hospital in Basingstoke, south-central England. Famed composer Lloyd Webber missed Thursday’s Broadway opening “Bad Cinderella” to be at his son’s side with other loved ones.
Nicholas is best known for his work on BBC One’s ‘Love, Lies and Records’ programme, which was based on the book ‘The Little Prince’. He also worked on his father’s 2021 film “Cinderella,” which earned him a Grammy nod for Best Musical Theater Album.
Nicholas is the son of Lloyd Webber and his first wife, Sarah Hugill. Heigl and Lloyd Webber also have an eldest daughter, Imogen. The great dad Lloyd Webber has three more children, in addition to Nicholas and Imogen.
