Jay Briscoe, one of the greatest tag team wrestlers of all time, has died at the age of 38.
Briscoe (real name Jamin Pugh) He was killed in a car crash which occurred in Laurel, Delaware on Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m., a report from Shore News Beacon said two people died in the crash and two others were hospitalized in critical condition. The identities of the other people involved have not been revealed.
The death of Briscoe was confirmed by AEW and ROH owner Tony Khan. Khan vowed to do everything he could to support the Briscoes.

Having started his career as a teenager, Briscoe made his name in professional wrestling while teaming with his brother Mark in ROH. During the 20 years that they were with the promotion, the Briscoes have held the ROH Tag Team Titles 13 times. They just won the titles at ROH Final Battle last month, defeating FTR in what was widely considered one of the best matches of 2022. It capped off a trio of tag team matches that took place last year.
“I’ve been in tears since I heard the news,” FTR Cash Wheeler said chirp. “I don’t have the words. Rest in peace Jay.”
Briscoe has also found success as a singles wrestler, holding the ROH World Championship twice. He and Mark were the first wrestlers inducted when the ROH Hall of Fame launched in 2022.
NJPW and Impact Wrestling are among the other promotions for which the Briscoes previously held the tag team titles.
“Impact is very saddened to learn of Jay Briscoe’s passing,” Impact Wrestling said chirp. “Jay will always be remembered as the pioneer, who left him with his brother Mark in the ring every night. We send our deepest condolences to his family, whom he loved beyond words, as well as to his friends and fans.”
