The last PC port from us is not the “quality you’d expect”

The last of us It was re-released for the 117th time last week, this time on PC (which admittedly was the first!), and like the huge launches of games like horizon And God of War It should have been cause for celebration. Instead, the week and fan expectations were flooded with a slew of performance issues and bugs.

As we reported last weekUsers have reported widespread freezes, desktop crashes, slow performance and a strange mouse stuttering with aiming. Even when the game Do Work, people deal with things like hair texture and eyebrows that make everyone tick Looks like heroic bravery Bandicoot Crash Reboot.

At the time, developers Naughty Dog said:

The Last of Us Part I players on PC: We’ve heard your concerns, and our team is actively investigating many of the issues you’ve reported. We will continue to update you, but our team prioritizes updates and will address issues in upcoming patches.

A week later, they decided to expand on that a bit, acknowledging that the port simply wasn’t up to the standards expected of the series or studio, and giving a time frame for the first two of what would be urgently-needed updates:

The Last of Us Part I PC Players: We know some of you haven’t experienced the quality of Naughty Dog you’ve come to expect. Our team is working hard to solve the issues that are currently preventing some of you from playing the game to ensure it reaches the level of quality you expect and deserve.

A hotfix that addresses jitter in mouse-controlled camera movement, some crashes, and more was identified in The Last of Us Part 1 on PC for Tuesday. A larger patch with additional fixes will be rolled out later in the week.

Gamers are also encouraged to make sure you are using the latest Nvidia, AMD and Intel graphics drivers. Our dedicated team and partners at Iron Galaxy will continue to investigate and address known issues to deliver the great experience you’ve come to expect in The Last of Us Part 1.

I deeply sympathize with anyone making a video game, of any scale, not to mention the teams trying to port a AAA block coded for one console to another platform. It’s hard work, the exam is hard, and that work complicated.

But also… people pay good money for this stuff during bad economic times. These games need to work better, management and executives in this Companies need to stop pushing them out if they are in bad shape. If that means they’re late – and this game has already been delayed once! – Then please, delay it.
