The Minnesota Twins placed infielder Carlos Correa on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
The two-time All-Star was removed one inning into Monday’s loss to the Cincinnati Reds when he aggravated the injury, making an abrupt stop after catching a TJ Friedl popup to shortstop in left field. Interim manager and bench coach Jayce Tingler said Tuesday that Correa was undergoing tests, including an MRI.
Correa, who turns 29 on Friday, has been suffering from the injury since last May.
Twins rookie third baseman Royce Lewis was also not in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Reds. He is day to day with a strained left hamstring.
Tingler said Lewis originally suffered the injury while beating a player early in the match. He appeared to withdraw shortly thereafter while running out of a double, but stayed in the game until the injury aggravated with an awkward swing in the eighth minute.
Minnesota recalled outfielder Trevor Larnach from Triple-A St. Louis. Paul is in an interview deal with Korea on the injured list.
