Valencians begin sacking of defender Taylor Moore
Valenciennes It has initiated proceedings to terminate the contract of its defender Taylor Moore. The England player has been accused of assaulting a supporter during a reserve team match.
Taylor Moore was recruited by Valencians last summer following the takeover of the club by an investment fund. Sports Republic (which also owns 80% of Southampton and 70% of Göztepe), is no longer in the northern club's squad. According to information from La Voix du Nord, the bottom of Ligue 2 have started dismissal proceedings against the English central defender for serious misconduct.
The incident in question was an altercation at the training center after a National 3 match between Valenciennes and Lille reserves on February 18. Former Bristol City player Moore has been accused of physically assaulting a supporter. Respecting the presumption of innocence and ongoing legal proceedings, the club has refrained from any official statement on the matter. As a result, Moore was sidelined by the club and disappeared from all official Valenciennes sites. He was also missing from the team led by Ahmed Gandari.

With Valenciennes national almost certainly in danger of relegation next season (19 points behind with 7 days to go, relegation could be confirmed next weekend), the club will start the 2024-2025 French third-tier football without Moore. Ironically, it was Moore who unwittingly gave Kylian Mbappe his last name during a memorable moment in the Gambardella Cup final. Despite this, Moore, aged 26, has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season at Valenciennes.
