Australian media outlet 7News recently revealed the arrest of the former XV de la Rose international in Sydney. Sam Burgess, an international in the XIII but in the XV (especially during the 2015 World Cup, which was talked about a lot) would have been arrested after failing a drug test during a road test at Kingsford.
The former Bath and South Sydney Rabbitohs player in the NRL tested positive for an illegal substance, but that’s not the only reason police wanted to arrest Sam Burgess. In fact, he may have been driving while his license was suspended.
Sam Burgess should therefore have taken new tests and the police have indicated that they are awaiting the results of these tests to determine the follow-up to the investigation. Rugby Media reveals a statement from the former international in which he denies taking any illegal substances: “I have never used, bought or possessed illegal drugs and have no exemptions or penalties. I do not take drugs and live a happy and balanced life.”
