Hamilton 13, Sycamore 10 – Final

In the second year of the Arvie Crouch era, Hamilton collected the first playoff win in program history Friday night by defeating GMC rival Sycamore in a low-scoring game. Hamilton’s special teams came out big, starting with Roemale Shephard-Ruffin’s 80-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to start the scoring.

Hamilton later blocked a field goal attempt to tie the game for the Sycamores in the second half. Trailing 10-7, Hamilton took the lead for good in the fourth quarter on Antonio Mathis’ 21-yard toss to Nicholas Lindsay with 11:54 remaining. Mathis was 12th out of 16 in the air.

Sycamore, in the playoffs one year after going 0-10, got on the board safely in the second quarter after Hamilton ran out of the end zone. The Flyers would take a 10-7 advantage in the third quarter on Seth Truter’s 32-yard touchdown pass to Gio Garrett. Eugene Harney led Sycamore’s offense with 102 yards on 22 attempts.
