Will we soon hear French spoken in the corridors of European institutions? By the time Emmanuel Macron’s flagship cultural project, the International City of the French Language, opens in Villers-Gottets, there is no question of English having the last word in Brussels. France has taken the matter to the General Court of the European Union, condemning the recruitment of European civil servants through exams in English.
