Former safety of Houston Texans Justin Reed He plans to sign a three-year, $31.5 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, a source told ESPN’s Adam Shifter.
The source said the deal includes a guaranteed $20 million.
Reed, 25, is a potential replacement for Teran MathieuIt is an unrestricted free agent. With seven interceptions, two compulsions, three faltering recoveries and a pair of sacks in his four seasons with the Texans, Reed has some of Matthew’s playing ability.
Bosses will deliver Reed into the starting lineup, where he will safely join him Juan Thornhill. Kansas City may not have finished addressing the center, as its top security in terms of playing time last season, Daniel Sorensenis also a free agent.
Reed, a third-round pick from Stanford in 2018, was one of the Texans’ top defenders in 2021, ending the final season of a freshman deal with two interceptions, a forced fumble and four assists in 13 games. He was tried one match for violating team rules.
Reed’s best season came in 2018, when he had three interceptions, a forced fumble, two fouled recoveries and 10 assists he defended during his rookie year.
