The Wolf Among Us 2: Telltale Series Delayed ‘From 2023’

Owned by Telltale Games delay The Wolf Among Us 2: The Telltale Series from the previously planned 2023 release window to “outside 2023”. It will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store.

When asked if this meant the game would be released in 2024, a Telltale Games representative said they could only confirm the game’s release date “is not in 2023”. While the studio is aiming for 2024, it has yet to set a new release date or timing, and is reluctant to give a release period until one is confirmed internally.

The representative told Gematsu, “If you ask our CEO [Jamie Ottilie], his answer is “when it’s ready”, because we certainly didn’t anticipate some of the challenges of the past few years since we relaunched the company (pandemic, staffing shortages, etc.). “

Talking to IGNHowever, Telltale Games CEO Jamie Ottilie discussed further delays.

“If we stop this game and it’s not ready, we’ll be torn to pieces,” Ottilie said. “Expectations are very high, we want time to meet them and we want to be proud of them and know that, ‘Hey, this is the best game we could have played. Let the world say what it wants [once] It’s been done, but we know that in these times, in these circumstances, this is the best match we can do.”

Ottilie said the studio could have been “broken” to get the game out in 2023, but that option was never on the table.

“I did [crunch], and I don’t want to do it again, and it’s not fair for me to ask,” Ottilie said. “You can’t plan a business around it. So yeah, part of it is about maintaining a healthy work culture. We do not want to burn our good people. It’s been incredibly difficult to hire over the past couple of years between COVID and the job markets and growth in the gaming industry. So definitely, burning or grinding people is the wrong thing to do in the long run. It’s not about how you build a business. And as an industry, we’re terrible about it. We burn our people. We burn our best people faster. And as an industry, if we’re going to continue to grow, we have to stop that. We just have to stop doing it and make better choices.”

… an important update for The Wolf Among Us 2.

We have made the difficult decision to postpone The Wolf Among Us 2 from 2023.

We know it’s frustrating to hear.

We started working on this in 2020 and are still determined to tell the continuing story of Bigby and the rest of the Fabletown gang. However, it will take more time. As disappointed as you are to hear this, we feel worse than having to say it.

But the work continues.

We are committed to delivering the sequel fans deserve and doing what’s right for the game while protecting the health of our team.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.
