Trevon Diggs on his brother Stephon after Bills’ latest loss: ’14 has to get out of there’

Trevon Diggs on his brother Stephon after Bills’ latest loss: ’14 has to get out of there’

Before last night’s game, Bills receiver Stefon Diggs was all smiles. After the game, there was nothing to smile about.

Diggs had three catches for 34 yards on five targets in a 24-22 home loss to the Broncos. It witnessed the abject failure of the coaching staff and special teams unit in ensuring only 11 players were on the field for the effort to defend against the missed field goal that would have sealed the win for Buffalo.

Shortly after the game ended, Cowboys linebacker Trevon Diggs sent a very public message to his brother Stephon: “Man 14 should get out of there“.

Although it didn’t come directly from Stefon, it came from someone very close to him. It also comes just five months after something happened that led to Stefon leaving the team on the mandatory day of minicamp practice. At first it seemed that he came out angry. It then became clear that he had been asked to leave, apparently after becoming upset during any discussion that had preceded the departure.

Stephon arrived in Buffalo in 2020, after tweeting his way out of Minnesota. It’s hard to imagine that Stefon Diggs, who turns 30 in 15 days, would want to spend the final seasons of his prime with a team in clear decline.

It may take radical organizational change to get it to survive. Even so, there’s no guarantee that after four seasons with the Bills, he’ll want to continue chasing a championship with a team that feels as far away from winning one as it did before quarterback Josh Allen arrived in 2018.
