University: 58,000 teachers trained in English teaching techniques

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced in a press release on Sunday that it will train 58,000 teachers in English teaching techniques as part of an approach aimed at strengthening the use of the language in the environment.

“As part of the reform process initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to strengthen the use of the English language in education, especially in teaching, there is a program to train teacher-researchers in teaching techniques. English,” the ministry said in its press release.

The program offers “weekly workshops in the form of regional groups organized face-to-face in a university institution”, according to the same source, and the program, which continues throughout the academic year, was initially aimed at “science and technology teachers.”

The work of these workshops is monitored by the “National Commission to Direct and Monitor the Implementation of Academic Support Program for the Welfare of Teacher-Researchers”.

According to the ministry, “A training workshop was organized at the University of Science and Technology of Algiers (USTHB) of Houari-Boumedie from February 25 to 29, 2024 for the benefit of 1,000 teacher-researchers from the university institutions of the center. Workshop at Oran 2 University for the benefit of 150 teacher-researchers from Western university institutions.

The activity began at the University of El Ovet, which, from February 4 to 8, 2024, conducted a training workshop for the benefit of 150 teacher-researchers from eight (8) university institutions, namely El Ovet, Overclaw Universities, Biskra, M'sila, Tamanrasset, Adrar and the University Center of Ghardaïa and Ilizi,” according to the press release.
