Almost a third of French people have already given up on applying for a job because of their English language skills

In a survey conducted by Ipsos for ‘Wall Street English’, 32% of French workers have already given up applying for a job because of their (poor) English language skills.

22% of French people consider their English to be satisfactory

However, speaking English is a real asset in today’s world of work. One in three employees (30%) exchanged English in the context of their work (+5 points) in the last month, while 27% of French people did so in the context of their personal life (+3 points).

49% of employees say they are willing to take English training through CPF

Following very low English levels, 35% of French job seekers find themselves passed over. Progress, train? 49% of employees say they are willing to be trained in English CPF And more than half (53%) are willing to take this type of training outside of work hours.

In our Spanish neighbours, more than half of young people aged 10 to 29 and 70% of over 30s admit to not speaking a word of English. In fact, only 30% of young Spaniards know English ‘well’.
