“We take the form of a cultural centre, we offer a range of activities, and on a day-to-day basis, it’s the courses that run the association,” explains Cyril Roger. It’s very diverse, everything we’ve created has been made to order”. In recent years, the framework has developed into a more collaborative practice. “It allows more people and people to welcome, meet and get to know each other better,” continues Cyril, “an idea and a request. We have never offered to pregnant women, but we have already had a request from a midwife.
Children’s workshops begin in their first year before kindergarten with children’s music and small musicians, allowing children to begin collective practice. Seniors access music training and practice in individual lessons (sax, guitar, bass, double bass, guitar, ukulele, voice, drums, piano) or group practice. CEC has developed an ensemble music workshop, a specific feature to make sharing music more enjoyable, “We pick up instruments and we learn to play together,” notes Cyril Roger. For people who want another approach, it offers music training focused on analysis, music theory and ear work.
English in programme
Something is happening everyday at CEC in Bué! The slots are well filled, there are only a few places left, Monday morning (guitar), or Monday and Tuesday evenings, small musicians.
Also Wednesday is English Day, after school, for youngsters, 4:30pm to 7:30pm (4 to 6 years, then 7 to 9 years and 9 to 11 years). An originality and advantage for young people who are more open to the world, media, culture: “Above all dialogue and songs, games, for the little ones, attract language. The little ones sing and play in English. We work on vocabulary and grammar for older people, these are not sitting subjects,” underlines Cyril, an active Anglophile. For seniors, Intensive English (high school, undergraduate preparation or support) is one Saturday per month. Finally, the “English Tea” meeting takes place on the second Sunday of the month from 4 to 6 p.m., all levels, in Chancerre, with a bouquet stall.

Rock Workshop, Artists Evening and English Tea
New, the CEC offers a rock workshop on Tuesday evenings, every week at 7:30pm at the Café de l’Union in Saint-Satur (registration required). “This is the only regular workshop we do at the Cafe de l’Union, we use the stage and the room, and we plan to install a permanent battery,” notes the professor. Also, every third Thursday of the month there is an artists’ evening at the café on rue Amagat at 8:30 p.m. Café de l’Union is, for an evening, an artists’ café…
Finally, apart from this already full project, the CEC leads various time exchanges (concerts, activities for nurseries, schools, Ehpads, all reception structures).
A different system, CEC sees more. If the Covid period has dampened his ambitions, the time has come to make new plans: “We want to expand, we want to open up, we don’t want to be between us, expanding Cyril Roger, we’re going to do it this year. Let’s talk in the general assembly. In the spring of 2020, we did collaborative projects around photography. We work a lot as a team and try to open up as much as possible. In this association, we bring energy to forget the weekly agenda and breathe our good humor and joy. We grow them at home! »
